Each ButcherBox is shipped in an insulated, eco-friendly, carrier approved box. Dry ice is used to keep your ButcherBox cold during transit and after delivery for several hours. The amount of dry ice in each box is calculated based on the transit time and the location of the delivery. As dry ice evaporates, it mixes with the air inside the box and continues to keep the meat cold even after it's completely gone. It's not unusual for the dry ice to be completely evaporated, leaving just an empty bag on the guaranteed delivery date.
Your meat should be delivered cold (below 40 °F as measured with a food thermometer) when retrieved on the guaranteed delivery date and can be placed into the refrigerator or freezer for later use.
You should immediately discard meat that is above 40 °F or meat that is exactly 40 °F that may have been so for more than 2 hours.
If your delivery does not meet the above guidelines, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance.
