Our wild salmon, as you’d probably expect, is caught in the wild and sustainably harvested. When we deliver anything that’s wild-caught, it’s important to us that it’s sustainably harvested and contributes to the overall health of the ecosystem.

And as always, our products contain no artificial coloring, no additives, no hormones, and no antibiotics ever.

SCALLOPS

Our sea scallops are all-natural with no added water or chemicals. They’re caught in the cold water of Georges Bank, landed in New Bedford, Massachusetts and are traceable using the technology of Legit Fish. Each package of Legit Fish-traced seafood provides the species, vessel names and dates, fishing area, and landing port as was reported to the government on the dockside dealer records. This information can be found through a scannable QR code on the back of the packaging.
The key difference between ButcherBox scallops is that they are sold dry. The standard in the industry is that scallops are soaked before they are packaged in sodium tripolyphosphate, which makes the scallop retain water. This increases its weight, and, ultimately, raises the price. While this is an FDA-approved chemical, our mission is to bring clean products, with no added ingredients, to the market.
Our scallops are mildly sweet and wildly delicious and without the added water (thus they are called “dry”), they caramelize instantly.

Our cod is sustainably harvested in the waters of the Gulf of Alaska and the Bering Sea. The fish are pot caught, meaning they swim in pots until they're brought on board the ship.

Our halibut is sourced exclusively from the Halibut Hook and Line IFQ fishery that takes place in the waters of coastal Alaska. Alaska halibut is known as the world’s premium whitefish. It has a firm texture and delicious flavor that’s mild and a little sweet.

Our lobster is wild-caught by independent harvesters in the cold, clean waters of the North Atlantic, where we partner with a family-run business off the coast of Maine.
Our lobster claw and knuckle meat is Cold Cracked™, meaning that it's been pressure-extracted from the shell and flash-frozen after it’s caught. This special method helps to make sure your lobster has the most succulent texture and sweet flavor possible. There’s no heat or steam involved, so the meat is never double-cooked and there’s no breakdown in quality.
In 2018, our lobster supplier became the first private company to fund public lobster research focused on quality and sustainability. As of spring 2020, it’s the only seafood company in the U.S. with an on-site marine biologist dedicated to developing a deeper understanding of the lobster resource. The company aims to be the first carbon-neutral seafood company in the U.S. by 2025.

Tender and mildly sweet, our wild-caught shrimp come from the Gulf of Mexico. They're peeled and deveined, tail off, and cook in a matter of minutes. A delicious option for healthy eating, shrimp are a low-calorie protein, packed with Omega-3s, and have zero saturated fat. Our shrimp are low fat, high protein, and Whole30 approved.
